The LaMP (Laboratoire de Météorologie Physique) in Clermont Ferrand, France, is currently offering a PhD position on the "Estimation and nowcasting of rain over an urban basin".
The research work will focus on:
- Optimal estimates of precipitations with local area X band precipitation radars
- Combination of data from multiple radars with data from rain gage networks through various data merging/calibration methods
- Nowcasting of rain
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated background in analysis and signal processing methods, remote sensing physics, as well as atmospheric dynamics principles. Further knowledge in radar measurement principles as well as good programming skills are also desired. Although autonomous to carry on his/her research, he/she will also be part of a small team to apprehend the different aspects of the thesis work, hence good relational and communication skills are essentials.
The deadline for receipt of applications at the Doctoral School of Université Blaise Pascal is May 29, 2015. For further information and application, please consider the attached documents (1, 2).
