The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Utah has an opening for a research associate in the area of mesoscale predictability. Successful candidate will join Professor Zhaoxia Pu’s research group conduct research in mesoscale numerical simulations, forecast verification and data assimilation.
Qualified applicants should have a M.S or Ph.D. degree in Atmospheric Sciences and relevant fields, a strong mathematics and physics background, excellent writing skills, proficiency with high-resolution atmospheric models such as WRF and HWRF, and strong programming abilities (familiarity with Linux, FORTRAN, IDL or Matlab, and Pathon are desirable). The position is available immediately and the starting date is negotiable based on mutual interests. The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable dependent on the performance and availability of funding.
Salary will be competitive based on experience and qualification. Position is open now until filled and full consideration will be given to applications received by 30 July 2014.
